Important Role of Aircraft Lessors
Aircraft lessors play a critical intermediary role between manufacturers and airlines. Lessors reduce capital requirement and increase fleet planning flexibility to airlines. The world’s airlines have increasingly adopted aircraft leases. The percentage of the global active commercial aircraft fleet under operating lease has increased from 19.6% in 1996 to 38.5% in 2011, representing an average annual growth rate of 8.5%.
